Finding Family in Gebesee and a Squash Soup to Remember
This September I finally met my German cousins in Gebesee, the small Thuringian town where my grandfather grew up. Between garden cookouts, Kaffee und Kuchen, meeting the mayor and wandering the old town in Erfurt, I discovered Hokkaido squash and brought home my cousin Nicola's pumpkin soup recipe.
