  • 2014 CLOS du BOIS Sonoma Reserve Chardonnay

This week’s wine is a 2014 CLOS du BOIS Sonoma Reserve Chardonnay from the Russian River Valley. The cost is around $24 but I got it on sale. Basically, that’s the only way I buy wine. The vineyards website lists the wine as "creamy with tasting notes of “aromas of ripe apple, pear, Meyer lemon, and mineral with notes of toast and sweet brown spice. On the palate are ripe pear, apple, and citrus with hints of lemon curd. The wine is rich and concentrated with balanced acidity and well-integrated oak.” I tasted almost none of that though. I did find it minerally which I liked. It was well balanced but not creamy. It was good, but I don’t need to have it again. It might be a good choice if you don’t know the wine preferences of your guests because no one will be offended. I like a big, bold chardonnay so this didn’t suit my personal taste. There are wines I like better at 1/2 the non-sale cost. If you've tried it, let us know what you think. #wine #drinkup #drinks #yummy

I try to get the most out of my smartphone and I love apps that help me simplify my life. Here are 3 great apps that save me time and help keep me organized. 1. CAMSCANNER This application is a mobile document scanner. You can scan and email documents wherever you are. It's very easy to use and saves a lot of time. Snap a pic, label it, and then save it or send it. It is that easy. It works great and has made my life so much easier. 2. OurGroceries I use this app to manage my family’s grocery and other shopping lists. I make different lists for different stores. I even have standing lists for packing, must have road trip snacks, etc. This is a multi-user app with a centralized database. Everyone in the family can have the application installed so that they can update lists in real-time. 3. Waze Waze is a community-based traffic and navigation app. It shares real-time traffic and road info, saving everyone time and gas money on their daily commute. It also provides alerts before you approach police, accidents, road hazards or traffic jams, all shared by other drivers in real-time. I turn on WAZE almost every time I leave the house.
